Payment for noncardiac CEUS scans will increase from $178 to $356.43 beginning January 1, 2026, thanks to a new billing code announced by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
ICUS advocated for the new payment code (APC5572) to facilitate adequate reimbursement consistent with the benefits of CEUS to patients and health care systems.
The new code for noncardiac CEUS aligns with the 2025 billing codes for contrast-enhanced MR and CT. ICUS did not request a change in cardiac CEUS coding.
