Dr. Feinstein is one of the world’s leading experts in contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and invented the first two FDA-approved ultrasound contrast agents. Dr. Feinstein is Co-President of the International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS) and serves as Program Director of the annual international “bubble conference” in Chicago. His early research focused on the use of CEUS for cardiac imaging and assessment of carotid plaque and vasa vasorum, and has expanded to include therapeutic applications of ultrasound contrast agents for site specific delivery of genes and drugs. Dr. Feinstein is an NIH supported researcher and has authored more than 330 publications including scientific articles, subject reviews and chapters. During his tenure as a professor of medicine at medical centers in Chicago, Dr. Feinstein focused on preventive cardiology and early diagnosis of cardiac abnormalities, and translational research.
